What is the MCM Scholarship?

The Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship, also known as the MCM Scholarship, is provided by the Global Schools Foundation (GSF) to make education affordable for parents across a diverse range of financial situations.

The scholarship is geared towards parents of current students, parents of new students, and the student fraternity of GIIS. The Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship is an excellent option for students academically deserving and having low to mid-range household or family incomes.

Categories for the MCM Scholarship

The Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship, also known as the MCM Scholarship, is divided into four different categories:

● Category A scholarship. The Category A scholarship is given to parents with household incomes of less than 8,00,000 INR and provides 20 percent off on tuition fees.

● Category B scholarship. The Category B scholarship is provided to parents with household incomes of 8,00,000 to 10,00,000 INR and offers 15 percent off on tuition fees.

● Category C scholarship. The Category C scholarship is given to parents with household incomes of 10,00,000 to 12,00,000 INR and provides 12 percent off on tuition fees.

● Category D scholarship. The Category D scholarship is given to parents with household incomes of 12,00,000 to 25,00,000 INR and offers 10 percent off on tuition fees.

Eligibility criteria for the MCM Scholarship

The MCM Scholarship is mainly given to support academically deserving students from moderate family income groups, and students are assessed based on their past two years of academic performance and gross family income.

Students must have received at least 60 percent marks or equivalent for the past two years. Applications submitted without the right support documents will not be processed.

Applicants must be Indian citizens and must submit family income documents and a tax assessment from the past two years. In the case of local guardians, the gross family income of local guardians in India will be considered as a base for processing the application. The applicants must also submit a self-declaration form for gross family income in order to qualify.

The scholarship application process for the MCM Scholarship

In terms of the scholarship process, there are about five different steps involved. The first step of the scholarship process is that applicants must first submit an application form and upload all prerequisite documents in the application form.

Students should upload all academic records for the past two years, as well as family income documents and a tax assessment, including that of their parents, if they are self-employed or working professionals.

The second step of the scholarship process is that successful applicants are notified through email within 10 working days. The third step  is the scholarship assessment, the fourth step is the one on one interview if applicable, and the fifth and final step is the scholarship selection and disbursal.

Here is some information about the other scholarships offered:

1. Global Citizen Scholarship

The Global Indian International School (GIIS) provides the Global Citizen Scholarship (GCS) as a prestigious award to academically deserving students from the region to enable them to grow and develop fully in their education . The scholarship is applicable to the CBSE curriculum for grades 11 to 12, and students are required to hold a 93% mark and above. The scholarship lasts for two years.

2. GIIS Global Sports Scholarship

The Global Schools Foundation (GSF) contributes to the needs of deserving students through a wide range of different programs and initiatives, including the Global Sports Scholarship (GSS) program, which focuses on offering support to young athletes.

The scholarship is meant to recognize student athletes’ achievements at the international, national, and state levels. The scholarship is applicable to the CBSE curriculum for grades 1 through 12, and students must have proven excellence in sports to be eligible. The scholarship lasts for three years.

3. 9GEMS Holistic Development Scholarship

The 9GEMS framework is an award-winning  holistic teaching methodology that seeks to assist students in meeting the changing needs of the world. The framework is created to hone into students’ inherent strengths and mould  their personalities to make them more well-rounded  global citizens. The scholarship is applicable to the CBSE curriculum for grades 6 to 12, for a period of one year .

4. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship

Students are known to be more technology savvy fairly early in life in this digital world. Young students’ natural inclination towards their understanding of technological gadgets, devices, applications, and other digital tools makes them proficient in the field of technology at a fairly young age.

The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship recognizes and encourages these young students in the digital space. The scholarship is applicable to the CBSE curriculum for grades 6 to 12, and the scholarship lasts for one year.

Applications submitted without the right support documents or incomplete documents will not be processed. Applicants also need to have represented at the international, national, or regional forums in the above-mentioned competitions or similar recognized or reputed competitions.

5. Global FUTURE-READY Merit Scholarship

The prominent Global FUTURE-READY Merit (GFRM) Scholarship provides an opportunity for a learning experience that will give students the chance to become global citizens and have better access to reputable universities and prevalent undergraduate programs of their choice.

The scholarship is applicable to the CBSE curriculum for students in grades 7 to 12, and students with 85 percent marks and above are eligible. The scholarship lasts for two years.
