How to Spend Dubai School Holidays with Kids?

After sheer hard work in the Dubai academic year children wait for those school breaks where they can chill with their family and friends without having to look at the clocks to get ready for school.

During the Dubai school holidays parents are often worried that the kids will either get bored without any activity or they will be glued to cartoons or playstations all summer.

Whether the kids have eid holidays 2022 or any other school holiday, the below activities will surely keep them Happy and Active throughout the vacation:

1. Hit the Bull’s Eye

Enjoy this exciting game with your kid! A couple of bottle caps or sponges (for small kids, to prevent injury), and some chalk are all you need to turn a reasonably large indoor or outdoor area into a target playing zone.

2. Painting with the Marbles

This activity is preferably for young kids – preschoolers to 8-year-olds. Get some tempera paint, poster paint or activity paint in at least 6-7 shades; a small pack of marbles and a metal box; thick sheets of poster paper cut to fit at the bottom of the box. Now ask the kids to coat the marbles in different colors and drop them in the box. Now close the lid and shake the box a few times. Open it and there it is, the painting is ready! Now wash the marbles and try with different colors.

3. Explain the Significance of Festivals

Utilize the vacation by showing the kids latest UAE calendar 2022 with holidays list and telling them about all the festivals along with the facts associated with each one.

4. Hunting the Leaves

This can be done by kids from ages 5-12. Pick an outdoor green area like a garden or a park where the kids are safe. Now, ask the kids to get  indoors while you secretly go and pick leaves from different trees or plants– one leaf for each child. Put all the leaves in a container, give it to the kids and let them loosen the leaves in the green area. The idea is to let kids match the leaves they are carrying with those growing on the plants/ trees. You can then tell the kids the name of the plant or tree or more information as you think they can absorb.

5. Biography of Grandparent

Before the school opening in UAE after summer vacation, grandparents try to spend a lot of their time with their grandchildren so they can relive their childhood. The best thing children love to do is listening to their stories. Get your child to record and transcribe an interview with their grandparent or much loved uncle or aunt about their childhood.

6. Racing Track

Put coloured tape on the floor or carpet to make roads for your kids’ cars. You can add stops and signals to make the activity more creative. Make a special little zone for parking where the cars have to come to a standstill after the play is over.

7. Balloon Volleyball

When you need to keep the children active but it’s too hot to play outdoors, string up a rope across your hallway. Then hand the children a balloon each and have them play volleyball using the balloons.

8. Enroll your Child in Spring Break Camps or Other Outings

During the Spring break 2022 UAE, you can enroll your child in spring break camps or plan outings and activities that they can enjoy together. Also, you can consider desert camping, visiting famous landmarks or going to the movies.

9. Indoor Bowling Track

You can make an addictive indoor bowling game using a wooden board or a  flattened cardboard box laid out on a flat surface using pencil erasers or fat crayon stubs for bowling pins along with marbles or a ping pong ball as the bowling ball. Keep recording the score and have fun!

10. Cleaning- the- Room Race

Get a timer for yourself, sit back and let the children do all the work. Can they put all the cushions back on the couch in 25 seconds? Can all the blue toys on the floor be found in 60 seconds? Can all the shoes lying around the house be kept back to the shoe rack in 120 minutes? Can all the clothes on the bed be folded in 15 minutes? The sound of the timer going off will galvanize your child into action. At the end reward your child for the hard work.

11. Create a Bird Feeder

This is a lovely way to help our feathered friends while teaching the children about different birds in the neighborhood during the 2022 spring break. There are several craft websites that will give you amazing ideas about how to make easy, inexpensive bird feeders.

*It is needless to say that after all the fun, enjoyment and learning, parents must be wondering when school will reopen in UAE so they can prepare their child for school as well. As per the Ministry of Education the school year 2022-2023 will begin on August 29.

Conclusion

The UAE Academic Calendar for Dubai Private Schools has been issued by the Ministerial Development Council. All the private schools can tentatively communicate public holidays (like Eid, National Day) to parents and confirm them once declared by the UAE government authority.

School holidays are a prime time for activities and family travels. So, make sure to plan and book your family holiday well in advance!
