15 Fun Math Games for Preschoolers

Preschool

Learning arithmetic helps to develop working memory, attention, and other fundamental cognitive abilities, all of which are immensely useful.

The results of several studies have demonstrated that children arithmetic skills when undergoes kindergarten may be a good predictor of their future academic achievement in both mathematics and English throughout the primary years.

What are some Fun Math Games for Kindergarten?

Here are top game activities that you or the teachers can take up to make math fun for preschoolers.

1. Counting and Number Recognition

Counting is one of the fundamental concepts in mathematics. Therefore, it is only natural that your preschooler would be taught it early on. The emphasis would be on rote counting at the beginning of the course. This entails reciting a series of numbers in the correct order.

During their maths classed in preschool in Singapore, kids would be exposed to rational counting, which would be the capacity to count things in a group and come to the conclusion that the last figure counted represents the total quantity for the group.

2. Height Chart

It is necessary to measure and label your wood board as a first step in the process. To begin, pick where you would like to hang the board and afterwards mark the location on the board where the one-foot mark will be when the board is in that position.

Marked the height of every kid so they would know the inches measurement.

3. Wheel Shape

This is a wonderful game for children to learn about shapes! Simply print off this form wheel and trace the same color shapes onto clothespins to complete the project.

Ask your kid to match the shape on the wheel to the clothespin he or she is holding. This is a fantastic activity for improving fine motor skills!

4. Roll on Dice

This is an excellent game for toddlers who are familiar with the digits 1-6. The kid rolls the die and afterwards uses the dots on the die to figure out what number is represented by the die.

They locate the corresponding number just on a free printable that has been supplied and stamp it with a permanent marker.

5. Create Patterns Out of Legos

Simply take out your Legos or other building blocks, and you’re ready to start!. Make a kid complete an AB pattern, with one hand tied behind his back. Make the pattern more challenging!

6. Ladybug Number Game

Take strips of cardboard and write one number on each. After that, arrange ladybug clips on the board as the number is written. For “4”, four clips should be put on the board. Ask kids to perform this one by one.

It is among the best practices to make math fun at kindergarten schools in Singapore for foreigners and domestic kids.

7. Hide by a Number

Cut a piece of paper to fit the bottom of the clear baking dish and place it on top of the paper. A4 was a wonderful fit for our needs.

Put all of the digits that the kids are now learning or will be studying next on this piece of paper so that there is a sense of accomplishment and challenge.

8. Puzzles Using Food Labels

This one takes a little more preparation time. The food label from a cracker or cereal box should be removed and broken up into six or seven smaller pieces like pieces of a puzzle.

This game is intended to expose your preschooler to the concepts of numbers and percentages as they are used across the globe. In addition, as he grows older, he should become more familiar with food labels.

9. Numbered Chocolate Chip Cookies

The objective of this exercise is to match the numbers on the board. To get started, select your favorite chocolate chip cookie dish from the list below. Once the components are combined, the dough is ready to be used.

Take a large scoop of the mixture from the large bowl and place it into the baking pan. Every cookie dough ball will receive a different quantity of chocolate chips, which will be determined by a roll of the die.

Allow your kid to count the dots just on the die, and if they’d want additional chocolate chips, they may roll the die time after time.

11. Shape Scavenger Hunt

Kindergarten arithmetic children are learning to identify forms in their environment, as well as categorize and sort them.

This scavenger hunt covers all of the bases! Send them on a search for things in the room that match the shapes they’ve been given.

12. Stack Cups

Kids enjoy stacking cups; therefore, they’ll enjoy this game in which they have to do it with 100 cups whilst keeping track of the score! Put them in groups and time them, and see who can do the assignment the fastest.

13. Muffin Game

You may use muffin containers made of metal, plastic, or cardboard; whatever you choose or can easily locate will work. Say we take a muffin carton from the local grocery shop and mark each muffin slot with a permanent marker by writing a number at the bottom of each one.

Provide a wide range of different buttons for the pupils to count and insert in the appropriate muffin places following the number written in the slot.

14. Fun with M&Ms

Who knew that M&M’s could be used to teach a toddler a mathematics lesson at preschool? Grab a packet of these brightly coloured sweet treats and assign them to your kid to sort them as per their color scheme.

Questions such as “How many red ones would you count?” and “How many blue ones did you count?” Give them a couple of those to eat and then wait for them to count them again.

15. Rubber Duck Race

When playing this kindergarten math game, children compete to be the first to get their duck’s number to ten (or any number you choose). They use a dice to determine where their duck will go and then put out tiles to guide it.

We hope these game activities will help you in making math fun for preschoolers. Make sure you do not let your kids get bored when teaching math to them.
