Secondary education is compulsory in Malaysia. After completing six years of primary education, students need to take up secondary school education for five years. At the end of secondary school, students take the public common examination, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). To pursue higher studies after secondary school, it is important for students to have the required academic grades.
Secondary school admission in Kuala Lumpur is for students in the age group of 11 to 16 years.
Students enrolling in the middle of the year or into another curriculum get seamlessly integrated into the academic and non academic environment through our unique bridge programme that helps them to cope with the syllabus lost and make friends with classmates. Teachers give academic support and assist them to catch up with their peers and be comfortable with the class environment.
The curricula offered in secondary school are:
● Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)–Grade 6-10
● Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (CLSP) or Key Stage 3 -Grade 7-9
● International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or Key Stage 4 -Grade 10 and 11.
The value added programmes at GIIS enhances the learning capabilities of students and focuses on additional areas and concepts.STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) helps students understand key concepts in subjects through working models. Hey Math! Is an online tool that boosts the mathematical skills of students.
The subjects offered in CBSE curricula include:English, Science, Social Science, Mathematics, Foundational Information Technology, Second Language (Hindi/Tamil/French). Students can choose from any one (Biology, Computer Science, Business Studies).
Subjects offered in the CLSP curriculum for grades 6 and 7 are:
English, Mathematics, Science, Cambridge Global Perspectives.
Subjects offered for 10th graders in the IGCSE curriculum are:English, Accounting, Mathematics, Environmental Management, Economics, English as second language, Business Studies, Hindi as second language, Foreign Language French, GCE ‘O’ Level Ordinary Level, English Literature, Global Perspectives, Physical Education, Information and Communication Technology, Biology, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry.
During the admission process, the students undergo a counselling session followed by the assessment. This assessment is conducted by our admission counsellors to assess the knowledge of the students and accordingly guide them.
At GIIS, in the secondary school 3 curricula are offered that are CBSE, CLSP, and IGCSE and the fees depend on the curriculum chosen by the students which is different for CBSE and the Cambridge curriculum and is applicable for that particular academic year. To know more visit here.

The academic year for the Cambridge programme is September to August , and CBSE curriculum is April to March next.
To know more about the school, student life, admission process, meeting the faculty, team, parents can avail the exclusive campus tour facility offered by GIIS. This can be taken in-person or virtual tour based on the parent’s convenience. Parents and students can attend the campus tour wherein they are assigned with tour guides to help them with the requirements. A prior booking needs to be done for the campus visit.
The transportation facility is divided into six zones with the fees applicable for to and fro. The transportation fees can be paid term wise that is divided into 3 terms.
Students from grades 1-12 are offered scholarships where each scholarship cycle lasts for 3 months with four cycles each. The scholarships offered are:
